Our First Venture Out

We left our room and got a quick lesson from the hotel clerks in how to get to the train station and make our way over to NYC. We walked about 4 blocks to the PATH (train station), purchased our tickets, walked down and through a tunnel Add Imageand waited to get on board. This train was underground! It took us from the NJ side to our stop in NYC in a matter of 15 minutes. Once on the NYC side, we would jump on a subway to get where we were going. This became a very familiar routine to us!

Our first destination was Central Park for an evening of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra playing an outdoor summer concert. After a quick bite to eat and an hour stroll through the park, we found the Great Lawn. We had never seen so many people in one place before! Here are some photos from that evening...

Our evening ended with a display of fireworks with the NYC skyline as a back drop. What a welcome!!
